This policy explains what information Tote collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Overview

Tote helps you save screenshots, links, and notes as Totes so you can find them later. This policy applies to the Tote iOS app, Tote Share pages, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Information we collect

Information you provide

When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID email (or a private relay address if you choose to hide your email) and a unique identifier. You may also provide a display name and any details you add to a Tote.

Content you save

We collect the screenshots, links, and notes you submit, along with metadata like timestamps and source URLs. Tote may analyze this content to create summaries, tags, and suggested links.

Usage and device data

We collect usage data such as feature interactions, performance metrics, and device or browser information. We use analytics tools (including PostHog) to understand how the Service is used.

Push notifications

We may send push notifications to your device. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

Communications

If you contact us, we may keep a record of your messages and our responses.

How we use information

  • Provide, operate, and improve Tote.
  • Process and display your Totes, including AI-assisted summaries and tags.
  • Respond to requests and provide support.
  • Monitor usage, fix bugs, and improve safety and reliability.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

How we share information

  • With service providers. We work with trusted vendors (such as cloud hosting, analytics, and AI providers) who process data on our behalf.
  • With your direction. If you create a share link, the Tote you share may be accessible to anyone with the link.
  • For legal reasons. We may disclose information to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or prevent misuse.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices

  • Access, update, or delete your account and Totes in the app.
  • Stop sharing a Tote by disabling or deleting its share link.
  • Control cookies and analytics through your browser settings where available.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide Tote and meet legal obligations. If you delete your account or Totes, we will remove them within a reasonable period, subject to backups and legal requirements.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

Tote is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

International transfers

If you access Tote from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where we or our providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy here and update the "Last updated" date.
